Hunter Ellis

Every brand story needs a strong framework crafted with long-term development in mind. Hunter helps us strengthen our clients’ brand stories by researching cultural trends to create authentic relevance. He has planning experience with national brands including Wells Fargo and Kimberly-Clark Scott. During his time with Trone Brand Energy, he has gained considerable knowledge of all industries including state brands such as NCBiotech. He has recently energized the brand stories for the City of Chesapeake, Carolina West Wireless, The Sock Supply Company and MedCost. Hunter is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and a passionate Tarheel. He completed his Master’s degree in Communications Strategy at the VCU Brandcenter advertising program.

What is something people would find interesting about you?

One of my hobbies is electronic DIY tinkering. I enjoy upgrading and repairing old gadgets that I find at flea markets and thrift stores.

An eggplant because it is a complex, yet versatile fruit capable of absorbing large amounts of flavor.

A framed 1970 Volkswagen Beetle print ad with the thought-provoking headline, “After a few years, it starts to look beautiful,” sticky notes of all sizes and a small figurine of Star Trek’s Captain “Will” Riker.

What did you want to be as a child?

I wanted to be a paleontologist.
